Emergency Rosin

Recommended Posts

So I let a friend of a friend borrow my rosin and I haven't gotten it back yet, as it was lent yet again, and geez I sound very proper here, but anyway, is there anything I could use instead of rosin? I just ordered some more, but I need rosin today, as I am practicing. Any ideas??

You can borrow or buy rosin, but no.  You need rosin.

How small of place do you live?  If there's a music shop, just go there and by the student stuff.  That will hold you for a bit while your order arrive.

And rosin has many uses.   Cellist, ballerina, gymnast, and varnisher all use it.  But I can't quite imagine the small town that has no music shop, but one of these at hand?

Good luck.

Check at your local feed store or tack shop.  Oh, and start buying your favorite rosin online, in quantity.  :)

How long have you been playing? Many novices use entirely too much rosin, which makes a mess of the instrument and renders a scratchy tone. If I play everyday for a 1/2 hour or so, I find I only need to add rosin after about a week, when the bow starts to skid a little bit.

That brand is especially good for the aspiring country fiddler.

Agree. I play an hour or 2 a day and seldom need any more that 4 swipes of rosin a week.

You need to send your Uncle Louie to pay a visit to your friend.
