Guarneri vs Strad Neck Set

Recommended Posts

My examination seems to show that Strad has a little steeper neck angle (fingerboard rises more) but the plate arch height is the same within a mm or so.  Does this seem right.  Does this imply a higher bridge height for Strad?

Nope. Setting a neck has many different parameters and although you will alter numbers to fit a certain arch height, Strad model or Guarneri model doesn't figure into that.

Yes. Different people have differing ideas about overstand, projection and such, but it isn't model specific, aside from very high arches needing higher overstands to allow the fingerboard to adequately clear the arch and still have a useable projection without running out of bridge.

If you're seeing Strads and del Gesus with original necks, please put me in touch with your contact.

I thought that was a given.
