What fittings do you prefer?

As a continuation from another current thread, what type of fittings do you prefer?

Mountain mahogany because, Eric Meyer makes really nice fittings , and it’s not an endangered tropical timber.

I voted for boxwood. However it needs to be of a superior quality/hardness or it is one of the worst to use. Usually costs a bit to get where you need to be.

Me, too.  I prefer ebony exclusively for fingerboards, but use a variety of different chinrest, tailpiece, and peg woods to suit the aesthetics of individual violins.  The only common choice I haven't used is snakewood.

I’ve seen snake wood literally break apart and splinter - I wouldn’t put it on a violin I liked for fear that it could do some damage if it failed.

Can't go wrong with ebony, but my favorite is pernambuco.

I prefer rosewood until I run out of rosewood pegs. Then I’ll prefer ebony, because I have over 30 sets of nice ebony pegs. 

My options are wide open for cello. I wouldn’t mind a set of Mountain mahogany. I recently used a plum wood chin rest that was quite nice.

I like understated elegance of the black plastic Wittner fine tuning pegs in their 1/2 size.

I like Australian hardwoods such as gidgee or mulga, same hardness and density as ebony and because I have a chitload of the stuff.
