germain Report post Posted May 25, 2019 Having played and owned Audinot violins this baby looked so close to what I've seen. I almost bought it from the seller for a couple of thousand dollars. Looked good that I figured even if not real it still a beautiful fiddle for the price. eBay listing stated most probably a Colin-Mezin. I thought no way... The moment we agreed on the price and I was about to send payment he canceled the auction because Rampal certified it as a real Audinot... That would have been one of those eBy treasures for me. Unfortunately did not happen... anyone else here see that listing?
PhilipKT Report post Posted May 25, 2019 The irony is amazing. after all the listings of fake violins,” I’m canceling this listing because the damn thing turned out to be REAL!”

You've got my deepest sympathy. 2 hours ago, PhilipKT said: The irony is amazing. after all the listings of fake violins,” I’m canceling this listing because the damn thing turned out to be REAL!” That close a call's probably enough to give most eBay weasels a heart attack. Wherever that seller is, I'd bet you can smell skunk for miles.

ClefLover Report post Posted May 25, 2019 But is it real? At this point, it’s just another seller claiming it is real with no actual proof.
martin swan Report post Posted May 25, 2019 Looks good to me - we have one that's very similar. Surely the point is that the seller is NOT selling it because they've discovered it's authentic. A very salutory tale I would say.
germain Report post Posted May 25, 2019 Something wasn’t right with this deal after all. I agreed to his new asking price of £8k woth the certificate but he ended up selling it to a “local “ dealer for that much and said it “needed work” whatever too late now... GeorgeH Report post Posted May 25, 2019 He saved a lot if he was, in truth, able to sell it locally for the same price.
