Scroll Origin?

Could this be French?   Eye is rather small.

I don't know, its interesting, somebody here might recognize it. Keep in mind that sometimes people re-worked scrolls purchased from the trade.

I have seen a scroll like this but it certainly wasn't on a French violin - I would say it was a Czech trade violin, maybe Josef Kreutzer label. 

It looks more like a version of "the usual" to me - the geometry is pinched and the chamfers are very rounded over. Not a great scroll!

Ha!  I have one with an eye even smaller. I wonder what the record is?

my first thought was that it maybe is supposed to be a copy of the "Cannon" del Gesù

I don't think that we can identify or classify a scroll by a single view, without front, rear and maybe diagonal photos. Nonetheless all the "pinched" features could be deliberate in a way of a copy etc., maybe Cannone. I recall slightly to have seen something similar at an Amati Mangenot, but one would definitely need to see more pictures of the rest.

I'm with KK on it being a Cannone copy, maybe.

I suppose it simplifies violin identification if one just calls every grotty wonky scroll a „Cannone Copy“
