Fungus treated tonewood

Recommended Posts

I came across this video on The Strad website this morning, where they discuss treating wood with specific fungi to alter the accoustic properties of the wood, in theory to make it sound more like the old Cremonese masters' wood. They performed blind tests against a Strad, but this has been done before, with modern instruments coming out on top so I'm skeptical on that point. I've never heard of this process before but it seems plausible. What do you think of this?
