Violin ID

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased this violin as a project instrument. It needs a fair amount of work, but it's such an attractive and well crafted instrument that I couldn't pass it by. There is a repair label inside the instrument from the workshop of Johann Stuber which could indicate it being a Dutch instrument? My knowledge of violins is very basic so I would greatly appreciate any insight into this instrument's origins which you guys have to offer. Thanks!

The edge is all original... it definitely protrudes more than most violins’, though the lighting in these photos makes it look more severe than it actually is.
