WANTED: Biddulph Guarneri Books

Recommended Posts

I thought that this outstanding book would be followed by others in the same style, that is a non Stradivari book with real information for makers, full plans, technical articles, etc. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

What am I missing? Why is the T2 estimate so low? I can't assume it's condition, because I'm seeing a few selling around that same range. And many sell for double and triple that range.

It's a nice book...But it's of it's time...starting to feel a bit dated now

In what sense is it dated?  Have more instruments been found that should be included?  Are there problems with any of the illustrations or technical data?

In the way it is presented. As technology moved forwards, newer publications have CT scans, density measures, more detail photos, varnish info etc.

I still think they are good books, it was kind of revolutionary on its release.

Tarisio does  this once in awhile,  I think it's to create excitement.  They know it's low

I'm just waiting for A: someone to die and I inherit a set, or B: The economy tanks, spiraling us into a depression of which the likes no one has seen and someone sells their copy to me for dollars 2 American in desperation.

Resin casts of classic instruments would be more valuable than many books, but they are not produced yet.

Soon I think someone will be able to produce CNC models of arching from CT scans. Probably safer for the instruments too, than being used to make a cast.
