I have found a good instrument but it has cracks in it that have been repaired. Do cracks affect the sound quality of instruments? And if they do is can it be good for the sound?

Well repaired cracks usually do not hurt the sound. You should check out, or ask how they were repaired. Many of the finest concert instruments have many cracks.

When it comes to sound post cracks they are usually repaired with a patch. When this is done they often sound better than before the crack.
