Jim Bress
Following on the eye candy snake wood bows in another thread, here's a chance to show off your favorite bows whether or not they're yours. Bows being kind of mysterious creatures to me please tell who the maker is and in what style if you can or know. I'm starting this thread to help educate myself on bows. I will spare your eyes and not show off my personal bow. Pictured below is my son's new bow made by Josh Henry in the style of Josh Henry. The wood is pernambuco, weight 62.7 g. -Jim
devaraja42
Here is a bow I commissioned from Gilles Nehr last year; as far as I know, it is an original model - I asked him to make something unique that would look good with the piece of wood he had selected. I've never weighed it, so I don't know what the mass is.
Jim Bress
Nice, I like the pronounced scoop at the head tip. The frog "pins" look unique to my limited experience. I like the look. The two bows my son had on trial weighed 60.2 g and 62.7 g. Only the weigh scale could tell the difference. -Jim
bengreen
Hi. That’s an interesting garnish on the Josh Henry bow. Can’t quite tell from the photo: is that some kind of ribbon alternating with silver wire? If it’s actually all threads, would you mind showing the underside (hair side) of the wrap? It's just a silver wire wrapped over leather.

Gilles did it on one other bow that was pictured on his (old) website, I asked him to do the same thing on the bow he was making for me.
Dwight Brown
I love the extra dots on the second Nehr bow. My Nehr viola bow is a great treasure to me and strangely enough restored by Josh! DLB

devaraja42
Looks good, Ben! Here's a couple more bows I liked very much, and happen to have pictures of - a Tourte with a replacement frog and button from the Hill workshop, and a copy made by Christophe Landon

Do you still make bows on occasion? I better go get vaccinated against bow making.

Jim Bress
Ufuk Guler, Did you make this bow? I can barely read the same last name on the stamp. I like the use of turquoise. Very nice looking bow. Looks fresh off the bench. -Jim
ufuk guler
Hi Jim, yes I made it. Thank you for your compliment. It was produced for "The Ivory Project" of Darling Publications.
