classicalmusic
I came across this tailpiece called the Tonal Tailpiece that's made out of carbon fiber. There are quite a few positive reviews about it: http://tonaltailpiece.com/ Anyone have any experience with one of these? I know as far as violin bows, there are some wonderful handling carbon fiber bows, but I always hear a lack of warmth in the sound as compared to a fine wood bow. Thanks for your thoughts! Violadamore
IMHO, $350 and up is a little pricey to experiment with.
Dwight Brown
Only about a hundred buck more than a set of strings. It's an expensive sport! DLB
Dwight Brown
Nope, I'm wrong. The 'cello one is $800.00! Violin version is $350.
DutchViolins
Watched the video of the sound comparison on cello but did not recognize real differences. Though I'm wondering if the complete set of strings is re-installed on an other tailpiece how many things have changed than? Is the bridge position exactly the same? There might be more variables in this game.
