Hi all can you help me ID my friends violin

 

Its looks french german and it seem to have A signature BTZM or N

I love it when a great mystery is solved--awesome job Duane.  I also love how none of the musicians, characters, or luthiers in The Red Violin ever existed, but I think that was just subterfuge of some sort, because look---obviously it is real.  The instrument, the genuine Red Violin--there is is!  How did you ever figure it out with just a few crappy photos?

What else do I love?  The OP's handle.

I have seen Mirecourt violins that are quite similar but the varnish wipe on the edges and the scroll are not typical of Mirecourt. 

If it is Mirecourt it has higher linings and more square shaped blocks.
