Violin id assistance

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I've lurked on here for a while and now wonder if you may be able to assist with the ID of a violin I have recently had restored.  Colin Adamson in Doune did a fantastic job restoring this for me and had a couple of thoughts on the origins of the instrument but nothing too concrete.  Having issues uploading photos so have managed to attach one to this post and will maybe try to put a couple more up in a second post.

The neck was replaced during the restoration as the original was too narrow to be of much use without some serious grafting required.  Aside from that it was in reasonable condition.  I'm still getting a feel for how it sounds, under my ear it is very sweet and projects well.

Look forward to some constructive comments :) Thanks.
