Contemporary violin in concert competition, live

Recommended Posts

Don, your inquisitive personality and scientific approach makes me think that "we ain't seen nothing yet." And we shouldn't forget your admirable humility. It's kind of exciting to ponder where you might go with this. Congratulations!

I missed the live stream competition too, here was dinner time, but I join the congratulations.

For me it's always heartening when a new violin brought someone at the top.

I'm waiting for the recording on youtube, please notify us if you find out when it will be online.

A link to her performance last year (not the most recent one with Don's violin)  Scroll to the bottom of the following page, there is a video you can open. She starts 25 minutes in.

She played (even the same piece), but didn't win then, and it's probably because it's not my violin ;).  I believe she played her Carl Becker, a decent sounding violin, but not as powerful.  There's a potential good comparison here... same player, same piece, same location, with different instruments.

She played the Sibelius both times, so it will be fun to compare them at leisure.  Noon beats Becker, hmm?  I'm going to start a spare change can for one if you'll promise me 2016 price.  Or I have this habit of trading work...  :)

Thanks for the link.  Stunning all over again.  I worried for her again through those two long trills..  ^_^

Congratulations to you both, again.  :)

The $50,000 is huge.

+ $2,500 for the viewer's choice award.

VSA competitions should be so lucrative.

That's a nice bit of cash but what does it mean the competition is open to "black and Latino US string players" ? That was a bit surprising. Any reason for that sort of discrimination ?
