Addie
I've wanted one of these since Eric Meyer posted them. The Batman mute! And one other Baroque mute. Prototype in Cherry. Rosewood to next. Pattern to follow.

Rue
Lol...how cute is that? Now you just need to figure out how to shine a light through it...for those emergencies. "I forgot the parts to the 2nd half of the concert! Help me Batman! And while you are here...mind checking out the tuba player? I think I saw tentacles."
edi malinaric
Hi Addie - pattern and originals! The moment I saw that bridge the thought came - "of course - the double eagle!" The double eagle motif goes back a couple of millenia. Search for DEM and maybe do a design of mute - with the tail and wing feathers forming the three fingers of the mute. cheers edi
jezzupe
"I am the batmute" Hey, I see a little Hugo Boss in that design, I like it!
Addie
Well, actually, these are typical Baroque motifs, based on Oriental cloud forms. We all know them as "Chippendale."

Addie
Oh, ok. With this crowd, I was unfortunately expecting to see the other "Chippendales."

Addie
A batwing belt buckle, common in the 18th. c. All of these photos were gleaned from the web.
Berl Mendenhall
I love the Chippendale time period of furniture, the S curve dominates. I also like a little bling bling in furniture design. The pegs photos are great. It's pretty cool how we are still pretty close to those old designs. Love the mute also, almost forgot. Michael_Molnar
Holy batshit, Addie. You see bats everywhere, but they don' know they're bats.
Addie
I'm actually seeing clouds everywhere, and clouds can be whatever you want them to be. The batwing buckle has been called batwing since I don't know when. I suppose we could call it a multi-lobed copper alloy adornment accessory, in order not to insult bats. romberg flat
Please let's be serious. The most competent guy is saying that there are no such things like bat violins or bat - whatever...

Bill Merkel
I bought a bunch of mutes one time and I was surprised at how different they sounded. The worst were the pernambuco ones, which all seemed to create wolf tones, next was the rubber sliders, best were the traditional shape ebony tridents, especially one that must have been a 3/4 because it was barely wide enough to clear the strings. The rubber sliders sounded ok except after the ebonies.
