a little 5-string

This was a 5 string electric violin project I finished off almost 10 years ago after completing a similar cello design.  It was my first violin, albeit not a traditional instrument, but it sure packs a lot of fun and can produce an enormous range of sounds.  I would be interested in people's thoughts or reaction to this design.  If you would like to see more, check out zamarstrings.com (a start up electric violin line that I was ready to launch years ago, but that got moved to the way back burner of life's little side adventures.   Someday, maybe I can bring it back to the front burner)

I'm actually surprised you got any pictures loaded.  Usually you need ten post to get off probation and then posting pictures are pretty easy.

 

First let me say that your electric violin looks really cool.  I like the button/inlay pattern on the back.  On the critique side, I find the visual effect of the line of back wood separating the inlay and the button distracting.  If you could make the inlay appear to have "grown" out of the button I think it would be a big improvement visually.  Just my opinion.  Well done breaking from the traditional form.

I'm glad you could view the pictures and liked the overall design.  I can actually see the pictures on my home computer (which is why I thought they would post), however they aren't visible when I log in anywhere else.  Perhaps that is due to my newbie status.  A few more posts and hopefully it will be easier.

 

Thanks for the critical feedback as well.  I would agree with your comments on the inlay design.  I had some similar thoughts in hindsight to improve for the next one.  In my self critique, I'm also not too please with the arch near the tail of the inlay....it's too sharp and doesn't follow a natural enough line.  The first one can never be perfect though, right!
