davidwchandler
We've finally nailed down our venue for the upcoming Southern Violin Association Maker's Converence. The venue is the Wildacres Retreat/convention center in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the small (very) village of Little Switzerland, about 60 miles out of Asheville,North Carolina. Check-in time is Thursday evening with instruments, Friday morning without. Friday and Saturday will be presentations while the competition is going on (pay no attention to that man behind the curtain). An awards dinner on Saturday, and Checkout is Sunday morning. We have available 20 double rooms, and the cost to attend would be SVA membership fee of $50, plus $100 if there's an instrument, and for the first 40 attendees, they can stay on-site for $275 which covers 3 nights and 8 meals. No TV, no phone, no in ternet, we're dedicating our time to violin making only! Our website will have more details, along with application and rules. Its violins only this time, perhaps next time we'll expand that to all instruments. This is about as much learning curve as we can stand though, being our first time to venture into the competition business. Nearest airport is Asheville, next Tri-cities, and then Charlotte. you can reach me by PM and give me your email, and I'll email information to you. Christopher Jacoby
Gonna try and wander over with a violin! I'm happy to see more regional associations getting bigger and stronger. Peter Lynch just became President of the Michigan Association, and we all get better by putting our heads together. Cheers.

David Burgess
Can me and "the significant other" ride our Harleys down there, with a decent chance of our scooters winning a sound award?
Bill Merkel
^Sounds like Johnny Strabler's threating to swipe the trophy and ride around with it tied to his handlebars.
