frenchlover
Hello, without any doubt this is a violin made at the Laberte-Humbert factory in Mirecourt. The Didelot label and name were exclusively owned by Laberte in the early 20st century. Very nice violin by the way!! Congratulations
Ratcliffiddles
Yes, commonly seen Didelot label. French Mirecourt violin

David tetro
I'm not the dealer , I'm considering buying this violin for a student of mine , If it is less good than we thought I'll add it to my collection of violins.By the way I live in Israel I could not put a link from your smartphone then I uploaded photos . I'm Considering whether make an offer on this violin or make an offer on this one from Another trader: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Old-Violin-French-Georges-APPARUT-1944-signed-label-from-an-estate/281942017885?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3D7237d917ec894b428bc8d9779326184d%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D161983981952 Both on the same budget
martin swan
Different trader? Don't you notice anything similar about the background? If you want my advice, the Labete "Didelot" looks like a nice Mirecourt violin and so far the price looks pretty good, though of course I can't answer for the sound. The other violin looks quite unlike anything I have seen by Apparut or indeed any Mirecourt shop - presumably that's why it's being sold without a "certificate". David tetro
The background looks very similar but why In your opinion the seller will open two different accounts ? Thanks for the advice
lorenzo pedersano
The background isn't just very similar............... It is exactly the same. Perhaps two completely different violin dealers just happened to choose the same concrete block wall to photograph their violins on. It really is a small world dealing in violins on Ebay ! martin swan
The background looks very similar but why In your opinion the seller will open two different accounts ? Thanks for the advice I wouldn't want to comment on this particular seller since that would be against the rules of the forum. But generally it seems that Ebay sellers operate different accounts for different levels of stuff. In other words, they might sell good, correctly identified stuff on one account, and sell questionable items on another, so that the risk of bad feedback from the latter doesn't impact on the former. Or they might use one account to bid up items on another, even to the point of "buying" them and leaving good feedback for themselves. Or you might have a non-Ebay online presence which you don't want to jeopardise by offloading all the stuff you can't sell through that platform. Or you might just have a split personality - one of your personalities might think he's an expert who has advised Sothebys and Christies, and might have a Guadagnini for sale, the other personality might be a fool who doesn't know what the correct names are for the various parts of the violin. Generally a seller who has two accounts has five or six ... if Ebay closes one down due to complaints about not honouring returns or shill bidding, what the hell. Plenty more accounts ready and waiting with good feedback scores.

Exactly, Our often discussed seller from Vienna just bidded up his 2 violins to 4 figures using 2 different his accounts, and besides having different accounts, they simply change accounts names quite often.
