MJ Kwan Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I'm about to carve the fluting on my first cello scroll. It's patterned after the Strad Gore-Booth. Just want to see any clean, crisp examples of the detail on the back of the cello scroll (the little thingy opposite the nut). Typical or otherwise, I want to see them all. (Also, what do you call that part?) Thanks!
Guy Harrison Posted November 19, 2015 Report Posted November 19, 2015 Hi - Here's a photo of the chin from a 1701 Strad cello scroll. I hope it helps - Good luck with your first cello scroll!
Thomas Coleman Posted November 19, 2015 Report Posted November 19, 2015 I do believe that it is called the "chin".
David in NC Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 Guy, Just starting my first cello, and I really like and appreciate the strad 1701 photo! Thanks for sharing. Dave

MJ Kwan Posted April 7, 2016 Author Report Posted April 7, 2016 By the way, Joe Grubaugh came to our school campaigning for everyone to start calling that part of the scroll the Nape.
