Violadamore Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 We should encourage this sort of ad. Pity the major auction houses don't do this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-ANTIQUE-4-4-VIOLIN-LABELED-TESTORE/271967767165?_trksid=p2054897.c100204.m3164&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140407115239%26meid%3Dbeb7b400a6b9410dbcf751e95d25ccd6%26pid%3D100204%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D28%26sd%3D271966904387

uncle duke Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 The orphaned back pieces may be a reason.
duane88 Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 I'd venture that if the insides of many old Italian violins were opened for auction viewing that the shock of patches on top of patches, cleats and cloth reinforcements would make them much more difficult to sell to the unwashed masses!
