The violinist allegedly choked the woman so hard that the blood vessels in her eyes were ruptured, according to a court complaint.

Not sure. But that's awful. Glad the woman wasn't seriously hurt.

If someone did slip him drugs...is he still guilty of assault? On the record I mean.

If the attorneys can convince a judge/jury that, despite his guilty acts, his mind was not guilty then the violinist can be found "not guilty."

Nice looking violin.

Stefan Arzberger spielt ein Instrument von Giovanni Francesco Pressenda, Turin 1824.

I imagine it is the above instrument?

The url tag "typical_violinist" underwhelms me immensely.  I can tell this site isn't exactly the Times.

No, but his Quartet has posted of the incident...so I imagine some version of it is true.

No question there.  I was annoyed at what these oh-so-blase NYC "journalists" called their article.

Without knowing much, sad for all involved, the person offended, and for the reputation of the ensemble.

The instrument would have to be a fairly early period Pressenda?

I have been following this story.

I don't understand any of the legal proceedings...or lack thereof . This entire story strikes me as totally bizarre.

Why would this drag out?

I have not been following the story.

Sadly such postponements and delays are probably not untypical of many legal systems in even familiar countries?

So someone stole his credit card, ipad and cash, and most likely drugged him. Sounds like he's a victim to me and now he can't even go out and earn a living. The 'woman' mentioned below is not the victim.

4.37 a.m.: The hotel video shows the woman; she is going back down in the lift. She has Stefan Arzberger’s iPad with her. As later becomes clear from video footage taken at a bank, she also has his credit card and cash. At the bank, there is another woman, who repeatedly stands in front of the camera while the woman from the hotel attempts – in vain – to take out money with the credit card.

When it's trial time the defense could start by finding out if the security guard, Ms Robinson and the tranvesty all knew one another beforehand.  I don't like how the DA office is disrespecting a court order from the judge.

I don't know about delays in other countries. But I see this guy as a victim - being treated like a criminal...while the actual criminals are being ignored...

I thought you were supposed to be innocent until proven guilty...

And...what is he supposed to live off of? Charity?

What happens if he is indeed innocent? Who 'pays' for the damage done to him?
