A Nice Story about a coffin Violin Case

I enjoyed reading this old thread and wondered if any of you fine people have ever been a part of a similar story or have a story to share that's in the same vein. I'd like to read about it. Really any interesting story involving historical research and instruments will do!

I agree.  Very nice story.  I hope it is legit.

 

While doing my family history thingy...I've come across several stories where collectors have given item/s back (for free, or for the cost of shipping) to the families of veterans...only to find the families turning right around and selling that same item/s for profit... :(

This particular family paid for a replacement case and exchanged it with the heriloom so I don't think there was any foul play. At the end there's even a photo of the gathering showing everyone. I'd like to think this one was genuine but appreciate the concern.
