Albert Wolfram 1932 Violin

Recommended Posts

Anybody got anything on Albert Wolfram? Markneukirchen, 1932 Violin.

Got the violin from the Weisshaar family in Orange, California.

It's absolutely beautiful sounding, but I can't seem to find anything on this maker.

Thanks

I have a violin bow stamped "ALBERT WOLFRAM" and "MADE IN GERMANY."

Both Henley and Jalovec list "A Wolfram" as a 20th Century bow maker in Schonlind, Saxony.

There's a trombone for sale on eBay with "Meister Albert Wolfram" on the bell.  I'd predict that further research would identify him as more of an instrument dealer than a maker, as is rather common in these cases.  That would imply that your violin bears his shop label.  Perhaps Jacob Saunders will grace us with his observations if he has any further information on "Meister Wolfram".  From their reputation, I doubt that the Weisshaar shop was selling any crap, so of course it sounds beautiful. :)

With a name like "Wolfram", I'd guess that his products are rarely found because he was quite dense and noted for his inertia.    ;)
