Carlosro1699 Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) Hi all, I'm looking for a new violin, and I've taken a fancy to an old French violin. We've been told it's an 1880s Mirecourt, http://s1153.photobucket.com/user/carlos_rodriguez32/media/DSCF4924_zpsefd12e12.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 ( http://s1153.photobucket.com/user/carlos_rodriguez32/media/DSCF4923_zpsdc32ff68.jpg.html http://s1153.photobucket.com/user/carlos_rodriguez32/media/DSCF4920_zps5a7c7028.jpg.html http://s1153.photobucket.com/user/carlos_rodriguez32/media/DSCF4919_zps18dc64b9.jpg.html http://s1153.photobucket.com/user/carlos_rodriguez32/media/DSCF4915_zps591b3e36.jpg.html Could you please tell me what you think of it, and possibly find out the maker? The back measures 35.9 cm in height, it is very flat, and it gives a clear but warm, resonant sound. Thanks, Carlos R. Edited April 8, 2014 by Carlosro1699
jacobsaunders Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 I'm afraid that your link only shows me one picture
Carlosro1699 Posted April 8, 2014 Author Report Posted April 8, 2014 I've added the other pics to the post.
Omobono Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Seems in reasonable condition... revarnished?
Carlosro1699 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Report Posted April 10, 2014 We don't know. My teacher said no, but a family friend said that is was re-varnished. It is in nice condition, although it's been played on a considerable amount.
