J.DiLisio Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 Hello, I am a new maker trying to source Sacconi's "Secrets of Stradivari" book. It is proving to be a hard book to find these days. If you have a used copy to spare please let me know. I understand it is an invaluable resource. Thanks, J
Julian Cossmann Cooke Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 You might search in The Pegbox forum for two recent threads about prospects for the book's reprinting, if you haven't seen those already.
James Claseman Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 I borrowed it through the inter library loan. It's not worth the asking price right now.
not telling Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 I have a fine copy I will sell for only $500. It is the 2004 ed. That is a bargain! If you want the 1979 ed., $2500. Haha And, Interlibrary loan. Yes. Having the information is what matters. Seriously...get the 1979 ed. on loan if you can, since there is a bibliography in it. Having an approach for further reading is important too. Why this is missing from later volumes...no idea.
J.DiLisio Posted March 11, 2014 Author Report Posted March 11, 2014 Thanks, that's too expensive for me. I'll be looking into a loan.
James Claseman Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 If you try the library loan and get denied, try again a little later. I just sent mine back yesterday

jowl Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 You can buy a new one from the Strad Library. They have just received a print run.
