Rue Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 My Czech is pretty much 'not'. I'm assuming that's one of yours? Lovely...
Don Noon Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 Ashamed of what? Looks very nice. I only have 2 specific things that might be improved: 1. The nut shape looks like it kinks the string too sharply at the fingerboard end. 2. The varnish appears to lack some clarity into the wood, particularly the maple. What do you put on the bare wood for a ground?
Peter K-G Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 Really nice! The varnish "shading" and application looks quite a lot like the one I'm working on now, but a little lighter

I forgot to do between wood and mineral ground that "old wood" refraktive ground. Wood is hidden underneath. And maybe mineral ground is too strong. I do not do this now. I discovered maestronet forum and thanks to all the advice you've changed a lot. Mainly grounding himself and done varnish. Unfortunately, I did another photo violin and I do not have them with me .. Now finishing cello and take a picture of it and put on the bench if you will see the difference, what I learned from you to maestronet learned.
yulaberry Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 I don't know much about violin making, but I think - at least from an aesthetic point of view- your scroll is gorgeously carved!
