Hi Fred, thanks for your post. Your question is really a difficult one but the best thing you can do if possible is to upload a few straight on photos of the front of the fiddle as well the back. Also, the side of the scroll and pegbox is important all being in focus. Some of the very fine experts here at Maesrtonet can try to help you if they can see clear straight on photo's of your old violin.

Since this is your first post, I'm not sure if you can upload photo's directly to MN yet.

So....you could sign up to a site like www.photobucket.com where you can upload your nice photo's and then post a link here.
