scordatura
Wow that is some serious antiquing. Bravo!

Tets Kimura
I'm making more and more violas lately. Here, another da Salo model (412mm) is enjoying a beautiful, bright autumn day before receiving finishing touches.
Tets Kimura
I thought it might be interesting to show before and after photos. Antiquing isn't done, yet, and there's still more cleaning, and blending of colours etc. to be done.
Urban Luthier
Really nice work! Great to see your creative process
Andreas Preuss
Extremely tastefully done, Tetsu! Can't wait to see it when it is completed. (Just a pity that the lightening for the picture was so dark. If you want I can send you more candles)
Tets Kimura
Thanks! Once I start varnishing, I usually get too absorbed in it to take photos (besides, my hands get super dirty), but this time I took my time to record what and how I do things. It's helped me to objectively see my own working method, which admittedly I tend not to think through deeply enough.
Tets Kimura
And, it's ready.
Dominik Tomasek
Seems to be based on del Gesú's Messeas, am I right? Nice work Tets!
Tets Kimura
Thanks! It's a Goffriller model, though I understand why it reminded you of the Messeas. That is a great cello, too. When I saw it at the Cremona exhibition, it really shocked me.
Andreas Preuss
Hi Tetsu, are those zig zag lines on the lower back the yearnings on the slab cut back? Never seen anything like that with so sharp angles.
Tets Kimura
Yes, they are. I'm assuming that is coming from how the wood's been sawn as much as from the natural growth.
Urban Luthier
Wow, I llove the look of that cello Tets. I think I would be very happy playing it!

Tets Kimura
Hi, Thanks for reminding me about that exhibition! I've checked my own photos, but I don't seem to have any images with other people in them. Such a shame, really. Anyway, here are the links to visitors' blog entries with some photos; http://lavender5a.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-538.html?sp http://blog.livedoor.jp/cocotabi/archives/51698196.html

I really like your work! May I ask what the percentage of beeswax is?
Tets Kimura
Hi, Thanks for your kind words. The percentage of bees wax is 5% of the total weight of the varnish. It depends on other ingredients as well, but if you add more than that, it will be far too chippy. Have you seen that cello in real? I thought you might have, since it appears you're from Hungary, and the cello is currently used in Budapest.

Thank you for your quick reply. Unfortunately I didn't see the cello in real. Can I ask you who is the cello owner in Budapest? Maybe I'll have a chance to see the instrument.
Tets Kimura
The cello is owned and played by Yosuke Shimizu, who's won prizes at the David Popper Cello Competition. He's been studying in Budapest. https://www.instagram.com/yo_cello_suke/ He's a young and exciting player.
