It must be a global conservation of summer... we get 51 weeks of it here, so someone has to lose out elsewhere.

A Testore-ish model in for a clean-up, about five years old, and a viola on the way.

I don't know what the fiddle head is made from, I think it may be almond. It's like a hard dark cherry, but I found it in a pile of firewood in Italy so I'm not sure.

I put the neck into the last of four violins today.

Looking good Conor. Our spring hasn't set in for good, we had snow yesterday morning. Hope to see you at the VSA convention this September.

Summer has arrived in Ireland.

Really nice!

Summer has also arrived to Finland, can't see any violins though.

Lucky Irishmen, cellos and violins just grows on trees there and you harvest them :)

Hi Jim,

These are two brackets screwed to the underside of the bench. The form sits on them and the wooden screws just clamp it firmly against the bench top, . I can cut the blocks and glue on the ribs with everything held solid.

These are poplar ribs with just a little flame, but I dislike highly flamed poplar.

Oh, now I see it!  The wood floor and the mat was creating an optical illusion for me.  I thought the whole thing was sitting on top of your bench.

Cheers,

Jim
