What type of colophony are you starting with? Yes it is dark For every cook I got bolder. This last batch is as far as I'm going to go, because it will be too dark if I go further. Urban Luthier Report post Posted September 8, 2020 I enjoy your varnish making posts. I have one of the veritas guides as well. I mostly use it for awkward blades I cant sharpen freehand.
