Szymon
I recommend you to make madder pigment yourself at home. It is simple and you know what you have because the true alizarin does not blanch. I make pigments using madder roots and chips of fernambuk. I can send you a sample of my pigment. Has it been deliberately exposed to strong sunlight for long periods? I've a couple of instruments that I wouldn't mind fading! Thanks! I have looked through my notes/documentation and it seems that I used also tube paint, besides Kremer madder pigments. This was my first own varnish making and I also think I had to sand/polish between layers. I think I might have sanded away the Kremer pigments and left the tube paint "madder", which has faded. i.e. - Not artist grade tube paint. I used water from Polish mountain spring water without chemical as is in my town Poznan. Good luck! madder espresso.txt
Peter K-G
Thank you Szymon! This is great, because I have varnish in different darkness grade for different wood/grounding. It fits perfectly with my philosophy of varnish system - no nasty chemicals and knowing everything that is put on my instruments. I also happen to have a small espresso machine that I don't use so it will be fun to try this (once I get some time to do it) Fjodor gave me some madder pigments that seems good so I have a reference how it should be. Of course I also need to get some roots and pernambuco
Szymon
Pernambuco I have from the violinbow maker, and roots from Kremer http://www.kremer-pigmente.com/en/dyes-und-vegetable-color-paints/natural-organic-dyes-und-vegetable-color-paints/580/madder-roots-pieces I can send to you pernambuko. Remember - the roots have to be thoroughly milled, they are very hard. Coffee grinder is also useful.

Szymon
As a gift for the Christmas, I gave the last violin I made to the music school in my hometown, so that the school would lend it to talented students. This is a sample of sound - a mobile recording And this is the ceremony of giving my instrument during the concert

Peter K-G
Thank you Szymon, That is the nicest looking Christmas tree I have ever seen! Christmas is about giving, so what would be better than to pick your favorite Christmas present from the tree I have also given away violins it's nice. The best part is that they can't believe it's true, kind of a shock - You are really giving this to me
Szymon
Thank you very much for these words. Indeed, giving is greater pleasure than getting. This is results of body modes of this instrument. I made it according Patrick Kreit idea and Nigel Harris also.
Peter K-G
I just listened to to the sound clip/video and it think it's a robust violin with a clear voice without no harshness. Congrats for another successful one. You inspired me to take a day off tomorrow so I can finish my Christmas violin
Peter K-G
No day off, but I'm going to make it anyway between baking ham and socialize with my family Nut, neck and finger board done (terrible light to take photos)

Szymon
Peter - very good preparation for Christmas Eve supper !!! I glued the back plate and ribs during free moment helping my wife in the kitchen. Peter, how are you doing such beautiful deep flame? Beautiful neck! Beautiful colour and violin. Give us a sound sample in the new year.
Peter K-G
Clever linings. The neck wood has deep flames in it self so I just enhanced them with linseed oil and a little color. Merry Christmas - Timing is everything Ham and Violin ready

Fjodor
I have the violin for sale at LK so I have not played it for some time. But we should have a test session to compare the "copy"
Peter K-G
Played it for 6 days now and it's lovely, smooth and delicious like chocolate and easy to play (like yours Fjodor). But it has more carrying power than I expected as the back wood was really low performance. High dens high performance top wood (Finnish) It wouldn't be complete without a spectrum, compared to the last one Made this one different and it shows in the spectrum (even if they are not too reliable) Link to other spectrums & album http://www.thestradsound.com/modal-goal---strad-average https://goo.gl/photos/CJEbqhDzj93KG53M6 Happy New Year! Szymon
Bravo Peter, excellent parameters, very similar results! I can't do it. I never measured the density of wood before work. What is the best top and back density ? I have a maples from the Carpathians - for 4 instruments - and this wood gives me a weight of about 111 grams / 355 Hz averaged values for 1,05 stifness. Peter K-G
It is not possible to achieve precise parameters/results without the tables in Patrick's book. Everything starts from arch/volume/tuning I measure wood and everything very precisely with some Excel spreadsheets that I have made Here is an example of measuring this violin's (second top, density ~0,49), the first one was bad http://www.thestradsound.com/ongoing?offset=20 I can share the wood measuring Excel but not the tables as they are under Copyright I have used various densities with the same modes/weight For ex. this one 0,49 g/cm3 is +/- 70 g, 350 Hz, a previous top with 0,40 g/cm3 has exactly the same parameters. => 2018
Szymon
Grazie mille e buon anno!!! - as Stradivari used to say. If you visited Poland in 2018, we invite you to Poznań.
