Especially your red-brown varnish that has so much depth and luster. Weird question, though. What is the make of that bridge blank in the picture with the holder? I really dig the cut of the blank.

Thank you Nick! it’s a very old Aubert, before the use of the machines, cut by hand, around 100 years old.
christian bayon Posted December 23, 2021 Author Report Posted December 23, 2021 Another version of the Pinchas Zuckerman’s viola.
christian bayon Posted January 1, 2022 Author Report Posted January 1, 2022 Good start of the year! Nice meeting on my bench, violas by Giacomo Genaro and a new one : the old classy lady teaching the new kid in the block ?
Rue Posted January 2, 2022 Report Posted January 2, 2022 Nice side:side! Both look great! Are you repairing the "old" one? It looks in good shape. BTW...why does the older one have 3 pins?
Three13 Posted January 2, 2022 Report Posted January 2, 2022 That’s a lovely pair of violas. Didn’t Gennaro end up a watchman/guard somewhere in Cremona?
christian bayon Posted January 2, 2022 Author Report Posted January 2, 2022 For the curious about Genaro:
Ken_N Posted January 2, 2022 Report Posted January 2, 2022 Christian, I'm not usually a fan of straight on photos; I like revelations from 3d shots. But yours are always very well done.

christian bayon Posted January 28, 2022 Author Report Posted January 28, 2022 Enjoying varnish process.

Don Noon Posted January 29, 2022 Report Posted January 29, 2022 I would enjoy varnishing much more if mine turned out looking like that.
christian bayon Posted February 4, 2022 Author Report Posted February 4, 2022 A violin I made few years ago.
christian bayon Posted March 13, 2022 Author Report Posted March 13, 2022 Trying a new model, Pietro Guarneri, violinist in Mantova. Varnish not conclued.
Jim Bress Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 I like how personalized Pietro Guarneri of Mantua violins are while retaining the character of N. Amati. And of course, your violin looks fantastic.
christian bayon Posted May 15, 2022 Author Report Posted May 15, 2022 Tecchler "ex Romberg" bench copy almost finished !
christian bayon Posted December 1, 2022 Author Report Posted December 1, 2022 New Carlo Bergonzi copy, my favourite maker!
christian bayon Posted December 1, 2022 Author Report Posted December 1, 2022 My wood is older than me!
