Rue Posted April 5, 2021 Report Posted April 5, 2021 Looking good! Is there a reason you chose to copy this instrument?
christian bayon Posted April 6, 2021 Author Report Posted April 6, 2021 Very good sounding instrument, great unusual look, made by Andrea Guarneri with a top from his son, Joseph filius.

You always pick really cool models to work from Christian! - I like the look of this one - is it a bit narrower through the waist than the conte vitale? Looking forward to more photos as you progress.

Do you think the top was original to the instrument or was it to replace a damaged top? Does it have the characteristic Andrea arching or more like a filius?

Difficult to say, I was not present when it happened. the top is a bit more fully arched than the back and the Ff holes are set very next to the edge. next week, after to set the strings, I will have some answers to the validity of my choices.
