Very happy of the Anthony Marwood concert’s review in London,  with the  LPO at Royal Festival Hall under Andrew Manze. Anthony was playing on the Carlo Bergonzi I made for him.

Awesome!!! I like the little slanted marks on the front. Adds even more character.

Hey Christian. Would you mind sharing which model that cello is based on? Or is it your own?

Great work as always and thanks!

It’s a small Montagnana model played by S. Isserlis. You can find it on Strad poster.

Cool. Thanks!

Too bad it's out of print. Always the case...

I love the outline. I think it's the most elegant of any cello design that I've come across.

Hey Nick,

I have the OTHER Montagnana poster from 1740, I wanted the 1739 Sleeping Beauty too. Was not in stock.  But I just looked, and it is there in stock.  I don't know what's different.  The one I have isn't a small model; it is 751 mm long.  I've made a couple Montagnana pattern violins.  They are a bit different.

I like to drop buy and see what kind of eye candy Christian is showing.

Yeah. I saw that. I'm not very interested in the wider "Sleeping Beauty" model. I managed to find a copy of the smaller one in the shop while digging through drawers.

I've been told not to try and make the bigger one as a first venture in cello making, as it's more complicated compared to something more conventional.

Yeah, I looked up the numbers of the Sleeping Beauty this morning.  I saw the other day that it's 10 mm or so shorter, so I thought that it was smaller.  But it is OUTRAGEOUSLY wide.  The 1740 has nice looking, full arches.  I haven't studied them yet.  And as you said, the shape is very nice.

Hah!  I found that I have the article about the 1740 cello from the Strad.  It IS the Isserlis instrument. Cool.
