Looks really nice!

On a side note, is that a glue stain running down the center seam?

Thanks Nick! No, it is a pencil line, that is a one-piece back.

Manfio I'm surprised that this is the 1st time building a viola if this size. Curious do recall what size your first viola was? Can't wait to see more progress.

I think my first viola was a 42 cms. Made also 43, 41.8, 42.4, 39.6 and now this 41.5. This is a commision, the player is very tall and

currently plays a 43 cms. viola.

My main model is 40.7 cms.

Your top is very impatient to start making beautiful music!  If you do not build quickly an entire measure may show up. :D  I think it will look really cool if it is still visible after varnishing.  Maybe only appearing when the light is just right.

Luis, your backs are all of a consitant type of outstanding beauty.  Is there anything you can say about the type of cut (slab, rift, etc.) species, and supplier?

Thanks,

Jim

I thinks it is American red maple, slab cut, it is softer and lighter than European maple, I find it good for violas, it is hard to find, and many pieces comes with problems and can't be used.

I work on the flames to enhance them too.
