These are some quickie shots I took this morning of a Strad model violin I'm working on. The photos aren't very good. The shots of the top are at an angle so it looks a little distorted. Oh well you get the idea. Oh yea, the piece of tape on the top is for uv tanning in the box. I can check under the tape for tanning progress.

I love the look of this where the bark has been peeled off, looks very gnarly and the colours remind me of autumn. Doesn't look too bad on the other side either.

I had a guy give me a six foot log just like that. You could see the knots in the bark before it was ever cut. I had it quarter sawed in two inch planks. I stickered it out side and covered it for six months. I built racks in the garage and moved it after six months. After it had been in the garage for about two months I noticed saw dust under neath the racks. The wood was full of wood worm. I burned the whole lot of it, made me sick.

I just come back from the concert. Amazing! This cello was not plaid by a good cellist since Vuillaume death (1875), and not plaid at all since 1889 and the sound is fantastic! People telling instrument are dead in museum should hear this one! I had the same feeling 3 years ago with the Cristiani in Cremona.

What an amazing experience Christian! Thanks for sharing. Are you able to tell us more now or maybe at a future date. I fully understand if not. :)
