I can't help thinking that this could be only about 20 years old. It looks to me like some young lad's first attempt at faking an old fiddle.

The inside work is straight out of a violin making school, and I think that those ars screws holding on the neck. The colour inside looks to me like a whole mess of staining, and the varnish the same. I think he went out through the back of his pegbox.

If he's spotted this on the net, he;s probably squirming with embarassment, but he shouldn't be; lots of us made things like this before we got sense.

Or maybe It is old, The outline, f holes and head are pretty outlandish for a modern violin making student.

Looks like oil colour out of a tube antiquing on bare or almost bare wood. Notice how the back of the pegbox insert appears to be exactly the same wood.Even the grain matches perfectly. I think its scratched on which i find a little unusual.
