Earlier, the Austrian Gypsies always used to visit regularly with whole cars full of crap like this, carefully arranged with the really crap ones covered by a blanket, in the hope that I wouldn’t notice them and start getting abusive. Nowadays they don’t bother coming at all anymore, but offer it on ebay instead. I sometimes find it strange, in times when people get worried about carbon dioxide emissions etc., that people pay good money, to have firewood flown around the globe. At least he doesn’t have the hallowed “return policyâ€, which only means that some sellers send rubbish out and back several times, untill someone is to stupid to send it back.

So what's the tip-off, Jacob? The chippy varnish but unreasonably good condition for the claimed age? The not-quite-Stainer pattern? Something completely different?
