vathek Report post Posted August 22, 2012 This seller has listed a Stainer copy violin with a bow stamped L. Morizot. It just sold for $1,025. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Violin-labelled-Stainer-with-Bow-branded-Morizot-/251126622432?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a785028e0 The same seller has the same instrument and bow listed for 7 more days for a starting bid of $2990. Is this some sort of magic? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Beautiful-Violin-labelled-Stainer-with-Bow-branded-Morizot-/251134781648?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a78cca8d0
martin swan Report post Posted August 22, 2012 The first time around it didn't sell - there was a reserve price which wasn't met. Second time around it's for sale without a reserve, presumably the starting price is the lowest price the seller will accept. It would appear that it includes some Hills varnish cleaner, not a Hill certificate. Very optimistic price ....!

chrissweden Report post Posted August 24, 2012 Interesting cursive Morizot stamp, I wonder how it would look with Chinese characters.
Fellow Report post Posted August 26, 2012 Interesting cursive Morizot stamp, I wonder how it would look with Chinese characters. +++++++++++++ Look like " S " to me, not any Chinese character. If you say it look like Chinese, then it appears like a Chinese " Horse" then only partially .
