SPAM in Private Messages

Some of you may have received SPAM in PMs from new members. In an effort to thwart this and keep your inboxes clean, new members will not have access to the PM system until they are promoted to normal members (which happens after 10 approved posts).

We hope this helps, and thank you for continuing to visit and contribute to our forums!

I am a new member, and I just got to my 10th post, but when I started my account prior to me making my first post a SPAM PM showed up suggesting I email her for her photo's. When my 10th post arrived, the PM was gone (who removed it, I've not a clue, although I sitll had the same "1 new message" showing on my ID, when clicking on my profile, there is no longer the message showing.

It would be a poor reception to suffer for being new when all you wish to do is enjoy the intent of the forum.

That would have been me, who removed it... and in your case, both the profile message and PM from this person was removed at the same time (as soon as I saw it). I just happened across it when browsing new members, however. I wasn't looking for it actively.

You were probably not the only one who was spammed. I've removed all that person's PMs, but some members may still have profile messages showing. These can be removed by the members easily.

None of us here likes or wants spam, and admin & I spend good deal of time trying to prevent it from appearing, or removing it when it does appear.

If you or others receive spam messages on your profiles, or in PMs, the best way to help prevent further attacks to to report it (use the report button).

Thanks in advance.
