You said the file you're looking for may have come from a set. Could it have been the 12 piece mini needle file set from International Violin? I have that set, and the knife file doesn't taper to a really sharp edge; it's more like 0.8 mm thick on the "sharp" side, with no teeth on the back. If that's similar to what you're looking for, I imagine they'll probably have them at the convention.

Bingo! I think those are the ones. Thanks. too bad that I have to buy the whole set for one file but c'est la vie.

Also being the cheap SOB that I am I used Jeffreys suggestion on the Barges cement. It was the most available option. I spliced in a piece of bicycle innertube rubber (my favorite tool BTW) with the same glue for the missing piece and it should extend the life of the belt. So far so good. I will check out the linked belts in the meantime.
