Michael_Molnar Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Today I received a shipment from Nebraska by a notable firm. The total of my purchases was $74.60, which was mailed first class at a cost of $2.07. I was charged $16.80 for shipping and handling. Now, I come from a business family and understand fixed costs and overhead. But 20% for handling is outrageous. It is deceitful. This firm may never see my business again because I am seeing more businesses offering free shipping and handling. Mike
skiingfiddler Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 That fee seems a bit on the high side, but just a bit. I've experienced similar charges by reputable merchants.

Mike You're lucky you don't live in Australia (Only in relation to these kinds of costs) Postage and handling get all wrapped up togther and can be quite amazing sometimes. Tim
~ Ben Conover Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 It's a shame you paid so much, America has very low internal shipping rates, & oil prices. I bought one small router but (for purfling) from Stew Mac, the overseas shipping via courier to Ireland was more than the bit. Cheers.

Mike I just ordered 176$ from MSC. 4-ounce spool of wire, 25 small number drills. 10.98 for handling. This is not as bad as your situation, but they have everything on line and can automatically dispense zillions of things automtically. I figure that perhaps this system is expenseive and billed separately. Or maybe you bought a Popeil Pocket Fisherman .......... ?
