Michael_Molnar Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Wow. I have never had such a bad connection with MN. When I called for the Smile Emoticons I get nothing. When I click on a link I don't get a response. This is crap. Get Tuned! Mike
Bill Yacey Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 I've experienced similar problems, pages not loading, site not available, etc.
saintjohnbarleycorn Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 I have had no problems, I use firefox, don't know if that has anything to do with it. Some sites don't allow firefox.

go_oa Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 I use Google Chrome. Some threads load and run well. Some threads freeze. I hate it!
Michael_Molnar Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 Look. I changed NOTHING. I too use Firefox. The bloody browser is not the issue. I suspect MN was migrated to a "less expensive server". Someone changed something and screwed up. Big Time. Period.
Ken_N Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 I have had no problems at all. Everything works the same as ever. Never would have guessed they changed anything. I only have problems if the McAfee virus wants to update. Ken
Bill Yacey Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 It's happening right now. It takes about 1 minute to 1 minute and 30 seconds to load this thread. If I click on google or another site, instant access.
Richf Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Another possibility is your PC is infected with something or overloaded with cookies and spyware. That's always the first place I look, even though it's nice to think it's the other guy's fault. Good luck tracking down the problem. FWIW, I'm not having any problems (yet).
lvlagneto Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I used Firefox earlier today, and Windows 7... no issues here.

My computer is having no problems with it. I use internet explorer. Larry Lewis

jezzupe Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Yes, I suspect that it has someting to do with the oddity related to my sample clip having download problems.
hollenbach Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I guess I'm the only one who hasn't had problems. *knock on wood*
Bob A Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Problems with eternal loading here, earlier today and yesterday. Running firefox thru verizon. Qick hookup tonite.
Wolfjk Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Hi, I use aol or internet explorer, no problems!
cbouts Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Off and on I have problems with connectivity as well. The server will time out.
Michael_Molnar Posted July 1, 2010 Author Report Posted July 1, 2010 I recall from my experience of eons ago in IT that a server has to be tuned and load balanced. I do not know whether that is the issue here, but it surely reminds me of it. That's why I said: GET TUNED. (grins)
rudall Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 This is crap.Someone changed something and screwed up. Big Time. I don't think it's necessary to be so offensive about something you don't pay for unless you are an advertiser. Andrew
Craig Tucker Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I don't think it's necessary to be so offensive about something you don't pay for unless you are an advertiser.Andrew It is really a bother when I have connectivity propbems, with anything. (which I don't, I am usung IE 7 or 8 with a new-ish computer) In general though, it just isn't nearly as fast as it used to be (with a diffrerent computer - when it was new) but it is equally sluggish, no matter where I visit, which I attribute to the vast amount of traffic the computer has to deal with these days - and to the necessary anti-virus, anti spyware, anti malware, firewall, ad infinitum crap it also has to deal with - etc. In addition, I continually use the maintence programs that are part the Windows operating program, and to use the "tools" function to get rid of unwanted toolbars and homepages, pop - ups etc... STILL, I can easily understand the frustration and the dissatisfaction. Even so, while understanding - I agree with you here in principal - finding this problem may be a more constructive way to deal with the dellima. The last computer I had eventually became so bogged down with crap that nothing loaded without big problems, and a huge waiting time, in fact, turning it on and off became a half hour affair. This computer, I have all three Windows "protection freebies" on and working - and, I downloaded but had to get rid of AdAware and Avast because of big compatibility problems. ALso, I will not pay for the Norton "freebie" that now runs out three months after you buy the computer. (big mistake?) With my last computer, I finally had it "wiped clean", which I am not convinced can be done - and a new Windows program loaded, but even that didn't really work... Some sites were so difficult and slow, I simply wouldn't bother visiting them. I'm no computer expert - I'm just ramnbling here - but I do find computer problems interesting. How many other people are having problems with this new server?
hollenbach Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I don't think it's necessary to be so offensive about something you don't pay for unless you are an advertiser.Andrew I was hoping someone else would feel this way. No doubt the intentions behind this thread were good and for the benefit of all, but it has a stench of entitlement about it. For what it's worth, count me as one who is glad still have free and relatively reliable access to this sort of thing, glitches and all.

I have been having a problem with slow loading of the pages for about the last day and a half. I have a Mac Pro, using Safari for the browser. But, just noticed that around 11:45 CDT today, the regular loading speed returned, and all is operating normal now. I don't know what the trouble might have been.
brokenbow Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Yesterday at work we were hit with lots of virus attacks. There are two freeware programs that I find useful for cleaning up my computer. the first is CCleaner which removes all the cookies, temporary files, etc. I run it at the end of each day--not recommended for dial-up modem. Then I use Malwarebytes, when the computer slows down, which finds all sorts of viruses that those big famous label anti-virus vendors do not seem to catch, including some that turn off my famous label anti-virus software. When I have computer problems at work or home, it is either my internet provider or I have a virus. Often the virus effects some sites and not others. When running Malwarebytes, our IT person suggests running it in SAFEMODE (F8 key on startup).
Johnmasters Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I'm using Firefox as well, so I don't think it's the browser. I AM using firefox and things have slowed down. I figured it was just a busier season with more kids on line.
