Glenn Maybe he was bowing the wrong fiddle. What is the difference between murder and assassination ? (I probably should not stick my nose in so many threads)
Rokovak
Well, assassination is the act of murdering a public figure. Murdering anyone else is just plain murder.

Right, why was an insignificant craftsman a public figure... I complain about the exagerated importance that violin craftsmen place on their own kind, their ilk. (just in a bad mood today, I guess.) Poetinwood
murder is personal. Assassination is political. Military kills are neither. I suspect he may have been using the wrong kind of bows....those with arrows.

GlennYorkPA
"Murdered" in French is "assassine" Maybe someone was reading a French report on it? Gowan, I think you've hit the nail on the head. In spanish, to murder is 'asesinar'. Duh! Apparently, poor Poirson lived in a hut under a bridge and only made a bow or two when he needed money for booze so it's maybe not surprising he came to a sticky end in that twilight world. Why did so many violin and bowmakers hit the bottle? Glenn
DMartin
Why did so many violin and bowmakers hit the bottle?Glenn Do you mean like Stanley Potts?
Josh Henry
...Why did so many violin and bowmakers hit the bottle? Glenn They need the bottles to keep varnish, glue, and other chemicals in.
