Shostakovich 5

Recommended Posts

Second violin, mvt 4, the second bar of rehearsal 106 (the measure after the 5/4).

It looks like Eb, D, C, Bb, C, Bb, C, D, Eb, D, C, D, C, Bb, C, D but I'm not sure. The Bbs are written like Ds and vice versa. Can anyone consult a score for me? I tried a recording but the notes were too fast to catch.

Thanks so much!

I understand I'm a little late for this response, and maybe you've already solved your problem, but here's your answer just in case, since I have exactly the same part as you.

First of all, all the B-flats are really B-naturals. Also, the second to the last D you listed is actually a B-natural too. Thus, the first set of eight 16ths and the second set are identical. So, it would go like this: Eb, D, C, B, C, B, C, D, Eb, D, C, B, C, B, C, D.

Hope I could be of some help! That piece is among the most fantastic pieces I have ever played. Enjoy!
