Sharpening finger plane blades with a Tormek

I cut off some of the excess length of a drill bit extender then cut a groove in the end tube (with a hacksaw) wide enough for finger plane blades (iron) to slide loosely into. The allen screw holds the tool in place. Smaller blades are clamped against the inner radius. This allows me to use the Tormek jigs as if it were a normal sized straight or curved chisel.

Ok.. So here is my major contribution to the forum.

This is how I figured out how to sharpen my finger plane blades (rounded) on my Tormek..

Its basically a small C-clamp torqued on very tight. Its rounded so you can turn it to accomomdate the shape of the edge of a rounded plane blade. It works really well and I great a great edge.

I just use Tormek's flat platform (accessory).

I'll get the tool rest eventually. I'm just being economical for now and save the $30.00 since I can do the same job and get the same end results. There are other applications that I could use the tool rest for, so it is a future expense to come. Just goes to show ya... theres more than one way to skin a cat!
