MANFIO
I saw this in the "violinist.com" and found it quite interesting:
Omobono
Facinating, Luis, and thanks for putting that up for us. When do we get to hear the Octet played on 8 Manfio instruments?
Doug Rice
Thanks Manfio. I enjoyed seeing that. the Octet is one of my favorite pieces too. Doug
sunnybear
I think the Guarneri Quartet are more likely candidates, right Manfio? I really enjoyed watching that too.
MANFIO
I would like to make a string quartet based on the Guarneris.... but I don't have plans for a Joseph Guarnerius (filius Andrea) cello... I love quartet music, I have the complete cycles of Beethoven, Mozart, Bartok, Dworack, Schubert.
Ron MacDonald
Luis, If you love quartets, don't forget the wonderful 6 by Mendelssohn! Ron
Omobono
Speaking of Octets, we have had fun exploring a Posthumous Max Bruch String Octet. It's nice to find a few more works of that genre - the combination is so stimulating - as anyone who has played the Mendelssohn will know, and wish there were more. MANFIO
Yes, rcmacd, and those ones Tchaikovsky wrote too! And those by Shostakovich. Villa Lobos quartets are quite goo too.
