Fridolin
Hi everybody! I am currently trying to make a "Vernice Liquida" varnish consisting of a Sandarac to Linseed oil ratio of 1:3. Although I try to follow the instructions given in Geary Baese's book, my sandarac does not want to go (and stay) into solution. Do you have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks! MANFIO
I've made the recipe with oil/mastic/colophony and it worked well, it seems to be the most popular recipe in the book.
MANFIO
Many members here had problems trying to dissolve sandarac in oil, you can read something about that here: http://www.maestronet.com/foru...=sandarac%20and%20oil here: http://www.maestronet.com/foru...1=sandarac%20and%20oil
fiddlecollector
You usually have to` run` it, ie melt it at a reasonably high heat ,then mix it with the oil. Sandarac doesnt like to dissolve in oil in the raw state.
