Erika Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 quote: Originally posted by: Goose Bane I can guarantee you the unions will be working tirelessly with many/most/all airline companies to ensure musical instruments can remain as carry on luggage. You have a lot more faith in the union than I do.
con_ritmo Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 i just returned from a series of domestic flights. no problems taking the violin onboard with either jetblue or southwest.
David Tseng Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I flew NorthWest last week and I carried my violin onboard as usual.
OuchardGadda Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Flew Air Canada to New York and back on the 15th... no issues.
Omobono Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Flying Asian airlines round Asia I have had no difficulties. Just returned from Australia via Hong Kong to Korea with two violas - one in a shaped case with four bows and one in the suitcase. The carry-on viola case was never questioned and does fit comfitably into the overhead locker. The suitcase I picked up at a garage sale for $5 - canvas bag but strong steel reinforced structure. I wrap the instrument in bubble plastic sheeting and surround it with clothes and non-abrasive objects. It seems to work having done this three times with intruments. If the bag is well packed it remains stable and safe, well cushioned. Mind you I don't think I would attempt it with a really expensive instrument.
Tets Kimura Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I've heard on the radio that officially you can carry your instruments on board from today without any problem, even on UK flights. Good news!
