Richf
Have you ever been blackmailed by an ebay buyer before? By some magic, the violin I sent arrived with a whole new set of cracks. The buyer will only give me positive feedback if I send him $50. I've seen this in the movies: I'll be paying this guy for the rest of my life, right? I've already told him to send it back for a full refund - I'd rather throw it in the trash.
Regis
I believe I would contact ebay security or customer service if you still have the email.
sweetmusic
This has happened to us frequently. We just forward the emails to Ebay Security and tell the blackmailer what we are doing. It usually nips this practice in the bud!
Richf
Miles, a favor please. Since the mail isn't working (or I can't figure out how to make it work), can I ask you to edit out the reference to the ebayer in question? I already deleted it from my original message. I had just got home after a long long drive, and was a little irritable. I don't think it was appropriate for me to bring up names yet, because there may be simple misunderstanding to be worked out. Thanks.
Michael_Molnar
When someone buys from me and pays I give them immediatley a good rating even before I ship. I get ticked off by sellers who will not do the same for me; that is, when I pay immediately they will not rate me until I rate them! miles
Richf, done. I don't think the PM works as of now. The "new topic" doesn't even work on my computer. Michael, one reason for the seller not to rate you after you promptly pay for the bid is, in my experience, the chance for them to leave retaliating negative feedback. I currently received a negative feedback because of that. I paid the bid within 2 days after the end of the auction at the invoiced amount (bid + S/H). 11 days later emailed the seller, but no response. 35 days later got a response from the seller stating that I owed her $12 for shipping (because she only charged me $6.+). Since she had not shipped the item (e.e 35 days after payment), she would like to know whether I still wanted the item. I fumed as you can expect. So I immedately left a neg on her. After some arguement from her (including the fact that she never took my payment out from HER paypal account), she left me a negative feedback stating that I failed to follow her shipping instruction. Heck, a buyer needs to follow shipping instruction???? Am I supposed to ship the item? I emailed eBay a few times regarding the seller's asking extra to no avail. Another feedback related experience: I keep receiving email from a particular seller asking me to leave a feedback to receive a gift by lottery drawing. They also emailed me to inform me who the winners was...
Richf
As a seller, like miles, I only leave feedback after the buyer has. In effect, I'm not happy until the buyer is happy. If it turns out the buyer is unhappy for some reason unknown to me, the feedback is my only chance to explain my side of the story. When I'm shopping an item on ebay, I always read the feedbacks and, if there are negatives, the counter feedbacks. It's usually clear with whom the problem lies. On the transaction in question, the buyer did go ahead and leave me positive feedback. But, as recommended here, I did complain to ebay security. Whether that helped, I know not. But it didn't hurt. miles
+++++++++++++++++ As a seller, like miles... +++++++++++++++++ Sorry, Richf, but I am NOT a seller. I am a BUYER (only sold one thing in a year?). The seller left me a retaliating negative feedback because she screwed up (failed to ship 35 days after payment was made and refused to sell after I left her a negative feedback). Good luck with eBay. My experience is that unless your complaint has anything to do with their revenue, they will do ABSOLUTELY nothing.
